Goldline Controls Selects e-Kanban by Datacraft Solutions

Comments Off

Goldline Controls (www.goldlinecontrols.com) based in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, manufacturers Aqua Rite, the best selling electronic chlorine generator. Recently Rick Becker, Vice President of Operations, Kristy Buss Dupuis, Materials Manager, and Colleen Skeffington, IT Manager selected Datacraft Solutions’ e-kanban system to streamline their operations and continue a strong lean manufacturing initiative.

According to Matthew Marotta, CEO of Datacraft Solutions (www.datacraftsolutions.com), “Process improvements for Goldline Controls with existing suppliers will further reduce lead times and inventory levels and bring more suppliers onto the system.”

The Best Practice is “integrating the electronic kanban system” with a manufacturer’s current purchasing system. Marotta noted that the Datacraft Solutions’ e-kanban system will achieve savings for Goldline Controls in several key areas:

* It will reduce to zero the need to build inventory. All production will be initiated based on the immediate needs of our customers.

* Time spent by customer service communicating on expedited parts issues will be eliminated. Typically it is estimated that customer service staff spends 40% of their time on just expediting part orders.

* Sales will increase with the benefit of the e-kanban program because the pool system manufacturer will no longer use capacity to build parts without an order to buy NOW. 100% of production capacity will be utilized to build parts that are already sold as soon as they hit the shipping dock.

Where To Find Free CD Burning Software

Comments Off

Technology continues to make giant steps forward. Technology has made it possible to burn your own CDs and DVDs, without resorting to expensive equipment or outrageous charges. Now, anyone can make their own personal music CD with their favorite songs. You can also clone your DVDs so that you have a backup copy or to distribute copies to others. For business people, CD burning is the ultimate way to backup their daily information to prevent it from loss.

The good news is that there are lots of free CD burning software offers widely available on the Internet. Any search will provide you with dozens of choices for free CD burning software. However, the downside is that all of them are actually free trials, and if you want to continue burning CD or DVDs after about 30 days, you must pay for the service. The prices are reasonable, though, and won’t set you back a small fortune. You can comparison shop among the various downloads and find the perfect one for you, then take a trial run and make sure it is actually the one you want before you plunk down any hard, cold money. Plus, they usually come with a thirty-day guarantee, so you can be sure you are getting what you want for your hard-earned cash. It is a very risk-free way to burn your own CDs or DVDs. It is a great idea for both individuals and businesses.

These online CD replication services are a simple download that anyone can do. The programs are user-friendly for beginners, but also extremely customizable for the experienced person, as well. Many of them integrate easily with Windows Explorer so that you don’t have to create image files or do any other fancy footwork before burning your CD. You simply download the free trial, insert your CD into your PC and burn away. It couldn’t be easier.

Many of these websites that offer free CD replication software also offer some other interesting choices, too. For instance, you can get a free trial of a CD label maker to add class and style to your CDs. Once you try it, you will probably have to add it to your software library along with the CD burning software. Other great software downloads include DVD cloning software that provides perfect copying of DVDs with no distortions.

Once again, technology is making our lives easier and a lot more interesting by allowing the average person to experience the personal thrill of burning their own CD. With the money back guarantees and the great free trial periods, it is the perfect way to give this new type of technology and try for personal or business needs before making a purchase.

Creating Compelling Content , Write It and They Will Come

In a previous ezinearticles.com article,”I Need real visitors, Not Search Spiders” we discussed the need for content. Well written, insightful, informative content will bring your readers/customers in and keep them on your site Long enough to hear about your products or read about the event you are sponsoring. What ever the object of your desire is content holds the key.

In that article the spiders were the object of our desire. My quote “… almost any written content will give you untold opportunities to flood the spiders data bank with keywords and phrases. Not just 10 words or 30 words but hundreds of keywords and phrases.” Today I want to discuss the other reasons for fresh content. In a recent article on his How to Blog for Fun & Profit blog, T.L. Pakii Pierce lays out what he calls “The Four Pillars of Effective Blogs” T.L. wrote;

“You cannot create a success blog without compelling content. Compelling blog content is not a compelling sales message. It is much better to create compelling conversation that wins a relationship than to try to leverage your blog for an opportunity to deliver a compelling sales pitch. Looking for the sales pitch opportunity is much to short-sighted and usually ends up with you shorting yourself by not delivering valuable information that can boost your business in the mind of your audience.”

TL’s article is a must read if you are going to follow any of the sage advise you hear from my big mouth. (I have placed a link in my Bio sig below) He writes from the Blog perspective but his advice is relevant to all content minded websites. T.L. brings up one of my favorite topics, he talks about showing your passion, that passion is contagious and channeling your passion will help you write more compelling content. As he says, “write to inform.” In his article he also discuses communication, credibility and community. I urge you to take a few minutes and study these points, the success of your website depends on a firm understanding of these basic principles.

You know your products or service better than anyone. Write from that knowledge base, communicate your ideas or thoughts with authority but more like a friend or trusted advisor. On target topic articles with minimal text link ads that educate your viewers or potential customers will serve you well in the long run. The content will remain relevant long after that item goes off sale.

Make your reader want to come back, offer a monthly newsletter, or better yet, create an articles vault. Share these articles with a “creative common copywriter license” and encourage other webmasters in your topic field to use or link to your content. With a Creative Commons license, you keep your copyright but allow people to copy and distribute your work provided they give you credit — and only on the conditions you specify.

I have spent the past 5 years building fishing and outdoor themed websites and If I have learned anything in that time it is that content is king. Float tube fishing articles and product reviews that were written over 4 years ago still bring a constant source of traffic from the search engines.

Write it and they will come.

How Satellites Make Our Life Easier

Comments Off

New advances in satellite technology are making life more convenient every day. Not only is satellite technology making your work more convenient and mobile, it is also adding a new layer of flexibility to some common household services.

One satellite technology that most everyone is familier with is satellite tv. You know, those dishes that sit on top of the roof and offer Television programming via a satellite thousands of miles in the sky. With satellite TV, there are many options and many service providers. The best can offer you digital sound and video as well as hook you into local channels – something that was missing from early offerings of satellite television.

Satellite TV offers commercial free viewing with hundreds of channels, pay per view movies, special features like recording shows and events, rewinding what you are currently watching and lock buttons to control what your kids are viewing. For the sports fans, satellite TV offers sports programming that is second to none.

Another enhancement that you can use every day is satellite radio. It works like satellite television, except it can travel with you. A satellite radio can go in your home, your car or you can carry it around with you. It’s an amazing concept that you can be “attached” to a satellite with such convenience.

Satellite radio can really open up the range and choices of music. With satellite radio subscriptions, you typically have access to several music channels, which reach all genres and subgenres of music. The best providers will also provide you dozens of channels for the latest news, talk radio, and information, along with local traffic and weather forecasts.

An interesting satellite technology that is just emerging is satellite internet. It’s great to know this satellite subscription offers fast world wide web connectivity. It’s a connection that tops all others for Internet speed, and offers the most flexbility. That means access when you’re on the road for business or on vacation for pleasure, or super fast service when you’re at home or in the office.

In order to take advantage of these new technologies, you need to make sure you get the right accessories for your satellite service. Luckily satellite service is getting more and more common and with that more and less expensive accessories are emerging.

For example, if you want satellite television, you will need one or satellite more receivers and dishes. The dish and receiver will harness the satellite feed and give you access to hundreds of satellite channels. Depending on your satellite service provider, your receiver can also give you options such as programming guides and controls so that you can filter out channels you don’t want your kids watching.

If you want satellite radio you will need a reciever and antennae to pick up the satellite feed. This equipment is state of the art, and the best subscription services also offer AM and FM as well as CD accessibility. Satellite radio can be set up to work with your existing home entertainment system, in your car or as a portable that you can bring with you. These radios have a great display that shows the cannel, genre, song title and artist name.

Manhattan the Island at the Heart of New York City

Manhattan is the beating pulse of New York City and has become tantamount with the city as a whole. The Island itself is home to Grand Central Station, as well as a number of artistic and cultural centers. Manhattan can be roughly divided into Downtown, Midtown and Uptown areas, each of which have a number of first-class attractions.

Situated to the south of 14th Street, Downtown Manhattan is the location of the Financial District which runs along Wall Street, including the rebuilt World Trade Center and Battery Park, from which you can get to the Statue of Liberty by ship. Quite a few trendy cultural areas downtown, including Greenwich Village Tribeca and Soho feature historic architecture, hip eats and plenty of shopping. Another popular location downtown is Manhattan, which runs along Canal Street.

The Midtown area is positioned between 14th Street and Central Park, and the location of a outstanding artistic scene. The center|core|axis|hub|heart} of arts life in the metropolitan area is the Theater District which contains Broadway, Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen, as well as the Air & Space Museum. Midtown is a popular location for business travelers to stay as there are many New York hotels in the area. Other trendy areas consist of Gramercy Flat Iron, a hip residential district, as well as the fashion obsessed Chelsea District.

Dominated by Central Park, Upper Manhattan contains the Tisch Children’s Zoo, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and more than a few museums all through the Upper East and West side. In addition, the area is thehome to Columbia University in Morningside Heights, the historic Harlem area and Washington Heights.

Every of the Island’s one of a kind areas hold their own sense of history, as well as trendy points of interest from world-class arts to food. A visit to New York is not complete without a complete tour of Manhattan’s finest places. There is an excellent reason that the island has come to define the public face of the city. Manhattan is one of the world’s premier cultural capitals and continues to set the standard in commercial and artistic trends.

The Right Way To Discharge Capacitor In Switch Mode Power Su

Comments Off

Switch mode power supply contain some large filter capacitors that can hold dangerous charges even if the unit has not been used for several days. Typical values of this type of filter capacitor are 220uf 250volt and 330uf 400volt! If you are going to work on the power supply circuits, it’s a good idea to discharge that capacitor first.
There are three ways to discharge the big filter capacitor in a power supply.
1)Discharge it with a screw driver (not recommended).
The reason for not using the screw driver to discharge a capacitor is because
-the printed circuit board or circuitry can be damage due to the spark generated while discharging the high voltage capacitor.
I once blowed the power section using this method. However, if you know that the capacitor stored voltage is not too large, you can easily discharge it with a small screw driver.
-if the capacitor holds a heavier charge of electricity. Discharging the capacitor may melt the tip of the screw driver and the copper on the printed circuit board.
-Sometimes a heavier spark may cause small disintegrated solder lead or copper to fly out from the circuit board and may injured your eyes.

2)Place the leads of a socketed 100 watt electric bulb on the leads of the capacitor.
This method had been used by many technicians around the world for the light bulb will act as an indicator to see if the capacitor still holds the charge. If there is a charge the light bulb will light and after discharged the light bulb will goes off.

3)Place the leads of a high wattage resistor on the leads of the capacitor.
I use a 2.2k ohm 10 watt resistor to discharge the high voltage capacitor in a switch mode power supplies. It is simple to use and very effective .It takes only couple of
seconds to fully discharge the capacitor.

Conclusion-I strongly suggest for those who use screw driver to discharge a capacitor to swift to the second and third method as these
is the safest method to protect the circuit and most importantly is yourself.

The F-Word

Comments Off

I’d like to invite you to consider a powerful concept. This
concept is essential–we must learn how to master it if we want
to experience the levels of joy, happiness, love and prosperity
that are our birthright. Many of us, however, resist this
concept. We use it sparingly, if at all, and occasionally, we
won’t even consider it as an option. In fact, for many of us,
this concept is so emotionally charged that I hesitate to even
name it, because if I call it anything other than the “f-word”
it could put our egos on high alert.

You see, in many cases, avoiding this concept is the ego’s front
line defense–an effort to protect us from experiencing pain. The
ego believes that if we embraced the “f-word” we would be
defenseless at best, and at worst, we would be destroyed
completely. Of course, it doesn’t help that most of us have a
somewhat ego- and fear-based understanding of the “f-word” that
makes it less than appealing. The truth is that embracing the
“f-word” is the secret to experiencing genuine freedom in our
lives.

So, what is the “f-word”? Forgiveness.

In order to improve our lives, our relationships, and our
reality, we must learn and practice forgiveness. We must forgive
freely, liberally, and often. We must forgive everything and
everyone–especially the people we are the most reluctant to
forgive. But let’s take a few moments to consider the true
nature of forgiveness.

Guy Williams, a friend of mine who also happens to be a minister
of Religious Science, suggested this take on the nature of
forgiveness. Forgiveness simply means to give as before. When we
are angry with someone, when we harbor resentment towards
someone, we have stopped giving to him or her. We no longer give
that person our love or our compassion. They have betrayed us
and caused us pain. And we know what happens anytime we have a
painful experience, right? Our egos immediately create a new
frame and a new belief in an effort to protect us from
experiencing that pain again in the future.

Our egos are reluctant to accept the truth that sometimes
unpleasant and painful experiences are unavoidable. Our egos
need to believe that they can protect us. Our egos need a
scapegoat–something (or someone) concrete that can be
identified, isolated and avoided. Holding onto our anger and
resentment keeps us separate from the person or persons who
betrayed us. This, in turn, reinforces the illusion that we are
separate from those individuals, and distances us from the truth
that there is no separation: We are all aspects of All That Is.
The less we remember the truth of who we are, the more our
essential spiritual and life lessons seem to present challenges
rather than opportunities. Everyone always does the best they
can at any given time, and that’s all we can ever expect.

It’s worth noting that when we choose to hold a grudge and to
remain angry, we carry the pain of the betrayal with us. We
experience a small amount of pain each time we think of it. The
ego actually wants us to experience this pain, because the
little pain will serve to remind us how important it is to avoid
the big pain. And the only way to avoid the big pain is to
protect ourselves from close, supportive relationships with
those who have hurt or betrayed us.

Frequently, the person that we most need to forgive is our self.
We betray ourselves each time we listen to the ego and forget
the truth of who we are. And the more we betray ourselves, the
more our egos try to protect us (from ourselves, yet!) by
strengthening the illusion of separation from the Source. And of
course, the more we believe the illusion of separation, the more
we betray ourselves, and experience pain. The way to break out
of this vicious circle is to forgive ourselves–to “give as
before.” We must learn to express unconditional love and
compassion for ourselves. As we experience this love and
compassion, we will reconnect with our true selves. And the more
we’re able to forgive ourselves, the more we’re able to forgive
others.

Man needs to stand upside down sometimes to see things bette

An Issue From: “Thoughts Generation”

The place of the current thought:
Eritrea (on the upper eastern part of the Horn of Africa). On the main street in the capital city of Asmara.

The time:
Just three years after Eritrea independence from Ethiopia on 1991.
The independence was acheived through an armed struggle lasted for 30 years.

The occation:
As a journalist working 30 years on this field,10 of them in Eritrea alone,I used to gather the topics for my job from the streets, the people, the Europian weather those days, the smelling of the national feelings and the experience of a revolutionary front changed cloths, cars and of course seats and secretaries.

The scene:
An old field fighter, used to leave his camp at the morning to wander across the Independent Street. He crossed towards the same place ouside the Cathedral where he used to stand upside down for a while several times a day.
His hands on the earth and his feet on the Cathedral`s wall he seemed to be more happy than when he faced this picture standing on his feet.He looked deeply at the people, the buildings, the cars and whatever or whoever there passed by.He changed this position, each time he got satisfied. The last time he got satisfied was just half an hour after the sun set.He stood up and walked his head waved left and right.

There was a deep sorrow and regret on his eyes.

He had his last attitude every day, before his daily 4 doubles congnac. He left his last joke on the audients`ears in the last bar on his way to his camp.

The deep sorrow and regret on his eyes fastened his steps on the road.

Psycho Analysis:
Some people thought that he was mad.My friends thought that too.Even some of my friends the fighters and the veterans thought the same way.
I was not.I never thought that he was a psychopathic.

I am so convinced that the up-side-down veteran is pretty sane, more than me and my various friends without prejudice.

The up-side-down veteran worked out the comming deterioration his own way.He declared his silent point of view his own way.Things seemed to him as not normal at all.The events seemed to that standard pretty bad than his expectations. The blood of about sixty thousands of his comrades the martyres, seemed as run to waste. The beutiful picture of the independence he dreamt about during his hard long struggle was changed into something false.Humans seemed to him as walking on their heads.Builings and trees as standing the opposite way. Every thing was not standing, walking or sitting right. That`s exactly what he was viewing actually. So he had strong desire as to see things the right way they are.

Now,would you like to stand upside down when ever you see things are running wrong,to see them running right?

Try it sometimes as a remedy and have fun and pleasure.

Stereo Perception with a Single Eye

Comments Off

Despite one or two amateur attempts at creating a separate image for each eye, it was the 1838 lecture to the Royal Society in London by Sir Charles Wheatstone that truly took the world by storm.

I have reprinted this work, complete with the original images, at http://www.wehner.org/3d/first/ .

What the reader will discover is the astonishing detail with which Professor Wheatstone – as he then was – approaches every nuance of the minutiae of visual perception.

With almost every aspect of the phenomenon of stereopsis accurately defined, the Victorians could rush ahead – particularly after the arrival of photography – with the production of images that convey depth.

That the human mind does not just play the eyes over the object to measure the depth, but can appreciate geometrical form “at a glance” was proven by a simple and ingenious experiment by Wheatstone.

However, an aspect that has been largely overlooked is the importance of SHORT-TERM MEMORY for further enhancement of the stereoscopic impression.

There is at the core of the brain a sensory area known as the “Limbic System” that gathers impressions from all the input data and merges them into an overall “feeling”.

Thus, the sound, the smell, the visual appearance, the mechanical feel and other facets of an object are all combined in the limbic system for its overall cognition. The result might be called a NOUN.

Similarly, when one decides to walk one does not consciously activate every muscle in its correct sequence. Instead, one builds up a REPERTOIRE of movements – a LEG DRIVER in computer parlance – and the learned reflex of walking need only be triggered. This reflex “software” resides in the cerebellum.

Gnosisceptors (sensory nerves) feed back the feeling of walking to the limbic system. Thus, when our minds decide to walk, when our eyes see the movement and our balancing mechanism records the motion, and the gnosisceptors in the legs confirm the leg action, we “feel” the walking in our limbic system. Our walking is a VERB.

So the verbs and nouns of our perception are created in the brain.

It is an inevitable consequence of evolution that those animals that need precise close-up stereopsis have eyes that point forwards. Think of the preying animals, lions and tigers.

Those animals that need a wider field of view – such as birds – have eyes on the sides of the head. Think of herd animals like horses and antelope.

A pigeon, to land, needs stereopsis in a triangular region in front and below. The cheeks of the pigeon are hollow to allow the optical axis of each eye to “sneak” past the beak, allowing a small area of overlap for precision landing.

Otherwise, the pigeon has eyes that give a panoramic view with little overlap.

This leads to obvious danger. What happens when the pigeon is on the ground? Is it vulnerable to attack by cats?

No. It JERKS ITS HEAD!

From one position it takes a “SNAPSHOT” of the scene. Then it moves its head to a position that is removed by a distance remarkably similar to the interocular separation of the human eyes.

From the new position, it takes a new “SNAPSHOT”. It “knows” which image is the front one, and which is the back because its brain not only commanded the movement but also received gnosisceptor confirmation.

So it needs only REMEMBER the first image for a split-second, long enough to combine it with the second image for a “Wheatsone glimpse”, and it has perceived the stereoscopic depth of its environment.

Does this only apply to pigeons?

Apparently not. When a human closes one eye, the limbic system will no longer have two images for stereoscopic evaluation of the environment. It will become dependent upon the “TEMPORAL” data in the one-eye image. That is, upon how the perspective changes over TIME.

I have made some tools for stereoscopists available at http://www.wehner.org/3d/ or http://www.wehner.org ools .

Of interest in this context is the LEN.COM lenticular stereogram maker. This creates an image of interleaved stripes for use with lenticular plastic.

However, suppose we make the stripes HORIZONTAL instead of vertical. Suppose also, that we make a mask in the GIF process where each odd row of pixels is black and each even row transparent. As the mask slides over the striped image, the left-eye and right-eye images will be seen alternately.

Using Internet Explorer, the trick works quite well. So you can see Professor Wheatstone rocking back and forth if you slide the scroll-bar whilst viewing the introductory page at http://www.wehner.org/3d/ .

Look closely, and it becomes quite obvious that the tuft of hair to the left of his head is moving forward and backward in space.

You can see the effect EVEN WITH ONE EYE CLOSED.

Remarkable!
