Golf Practice Isn’t Important If…

Comments Off

Golf practice can only help your game if your body can do what you ask of it on the range. Does that make sense? How often have you taken time out of your day to go to the range for golf practice only to leave more frustrated than when you did when you first got there?

Now come on…be honest! Every amateur golfer has experienced this more times than we can count.

Why is this?

Because our body can’t perform a mechanically sound swing when it is physically weak and tight. Picture the last time you hit a bucket of balls. Out of the whole bucket, how many swings really felt good, and the ball did what you wanted it to do?

I’ll bet you can count them on less than one hand. Or maybe I’m being harsh, and you can count them on less than 2 hands.

Either way, this is a common occurrence during a golf practice session.

Don’t get me wrong…golf practice is critical in improving your golf swing and overall game…but you first need to work on the “machine”, to be able to make the most out of your time during your golf practice.

Let’s look at the positive side!

You take my advice and start improving your golf specific strength and flexibility. It doesn’t take 2 hours a day in a gym to accomplish this. All of my programs, dvds and books incorporate affordable equipment that can be done in your home or even office.

The result?

The next time you plan a golf practice…it goes fantastic! You’re hitting more balls the way you want to. You’re enjoying your golf practice not getting frustrated. You even buy a new range card because you’re on a new high from such an awesome golf practice session.

That’s called Total Golf Performance!

You’ll soon be dominating your foursome and they’ll all want to know your “secret”.

Take this approach to your golf improvement and get a maximum return from your golf practice.

HDTV – Learn The Lingo Before You Buy

Who wants to go shopping for something that they really don’t know anything about? Or who wants to feel at the mercy of a salesperson who rattles on with all the technical terms that sound like a language from another planet? It’s no wonder that lots of people feel intimidated by shopping for electronics products and especially is that true of television sets.

Let’s start with HDTV. You hear about it all the time now, but just what is it? The simple version is that it stands for High Definition TV, and it is a quantum leap in the way that television will be viewed in the future. It basically means that the television signal is so dense with information on both the video and audio side that the picture will be incredibly sharp and smooth, and the sound is so good that it can actually rival that of movie theaters.

On the video side, you need to understand the pixel to fully appreciate the improvement in screen resolution. The televison screen, just like your computer screen is made of up of lots of small squares that have a part of the information that makes up the whole picture. The more pixels on a screen the more information about that picture and therefore the sharper the image will appear.

Older analog TV screens often had about 480 lines of pixels in it. HDTV can display up to 1080 lines instead, each with 1920 pixels, totalling up to a whopping two million+ pixels on the screen as opposed to only 200,000 on the older analog screen. That is ten times the information being displayed, and can give you an idea of how much sharper the picture will be.

But the sound is much improved as well. The HDTV standard allows for audio to be transmitted in Dolby 5.1 surround sound, which is similar to the technology used in movie theaters these days. This kind of sound puts you right in the middle of the action and is more faithful to the way the sound was originally mixed for that program.

Widescreen is another part of the HDTV experience that you will hear about, and that refers to the ratio aspect of the screen. An HDTV set has a 16:9 ratio, in other words for every 16 inches wide the screen is also 9 inches tall. That aspect ratio more closely resembles movie theater formats and so when viewing movies you get to see all the action without losing anything on the screen.

There is more to know about this new technology but if you understand what we have discussed in this article it will help you have more confidence in shopping for televisions in the future.

For years the most prominent public role for Peter Sutherland as chairman of BP PLC was hosting the company’s annual meeting. But after a string of oil spills, dangerous accidents and an energy-trading scandal at BP, the 60-year-old one-time rugby player has charged head first into the scrum.

Last year, the Irish politician and banker forced Chief Executive John Browne to publicly commit to his retirement date. After Lord Browne’s shock decision last month to leave a year and a half earlier than previously planned, Mr. Sutherland must now bolster BP’s image and manage the company’s first executive-suite transition in more than a decade.

Despite a persistent rise in oil prices its shares rose just 4.5 per cent in 2006, compared with a 36 per cent rise by Exxon Mobil Corp. and 15 per cent at Royal Dutch Shell PLC. Yesterday, the company announced 4th quarter net income decreased by 22 per cent, in part this can be seen as indicative of lower natural-gas prices and lower production.

BP, meanwhile, faces U.S. criminal probes on three fronts — corrosion and oil spills in Alaska; a a refinery explosion in March 2005 which claimed the lives of 15 in Texas; as well as its energy-trading practices, with federal officials alleging BP traders surreptitiously influenced propane markets in 2004. BP denies manipulating markets and says it is cooperating with investigators on all three inquiries.

Mr. Sutherland’s higher profile also underpins a pattern that goes further than BP: a shift in the boardroom dynamics at many of Europe’s biggest publicly traded companies. The criticism is often leveled that nonexecutive directors leave too much of the decision making to the executives. In recent times, many companies are moving to strengthen their boards with strong and independent directors.

Until the point at which Shell faced an accounting controversy in 2004, Shell’s British holding company had as its chairman a professor of geology. After the scandal, it hired Jorma Ollila, former chief executive officer of Nokia Corp as chairman. Unilever appointed an outside chairman last month to cap a restructuring at the Anglo-Dutch consumer-goods giant.

Mr. Sutherland’s mission at BP has always been to establish a “robust” and independent board of directors he was quoted as saying in an interview recently. After short periods as Ireland’s attorney general and Europe’s competition czar, Peter Sutherland in 1993 was instrumental in taking forward the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade in Geneva. There, he clinched the Uruguay Round, an important trade agreement that set the stage for today’s World Trade Organization. For a man who has achieved so much it is difficult to forsee where he will find his next challenge.

Don’t Roll the Dice on Discount Bats

Comments Off

Make sure you’re buying the best when you buy discount bats. Of course you can get the same quality and top-notch selection when you buy your bats from a discount vendor online or wholesale that you could get from an expensive sporting goods store or specialty shop. The key for you, the consumer, is to be able to pick out the quality from among the pack of other so-so, average, and below par bats out there.

This process is also very personal. Choose a baseball bat as you would golf clubs. It ought to be perfect for your particular arm length, height, grip, and swing feel. You wouldn’t take just any driver off the shelf and march over to the tee. You would make sure that your driver has the right sweet spot for you. Then you’ll able to drive 300 yards. It’s the same with baseball bats. You want the bat that will help you to drive the center field fence.

First, consider the barrel size of the discount bats you’re shopping for. The barrel size involves the top part of the bat. It measures both the barrel length and barrel diameter. When it comes to a sweet spot on a baseball bat, you want a longer barrel. The common wisdom is that longer barrels, generally speaking, have larger sweet spots.

This goes against common practice, though. Most players tend toward smaller barrels and a lighter bat for faster swing speed. Your standard baseball bat will have a diameter of about 2.5 inches. Your standard fast pitch softball barrel will be slightly bigger at 2.75 inches.

Your second measurement of importance for your discount bats is the bat taper, which is the diameter of the bat at its handle. Your typical baseball bat has a taper of 31/32 of an inch. This size varies, nonetheless, depending on the weight of your bat. There are players who claim that a narrower taper on a lighter bat allows them to rotate their wrists faster, while there are others who say the bigger taper helps lessen the pain when you don’t catch a ball with the sweet spot.

The #1 Myth That Kills Your Internet Marketing Success Stone Dead.

Comments Off

The funny thing about the Internet is how many experts there are. Wherever you look there are self-proclaimed gurus ready to tell you how to run your business or your life – and we eat up their advice like candy.

But, like candy, too much advice may be bad for you.

I’m no guru, and I hate to be called an expert, but as a marketer with 30 years under my belt I do look at some of the most frequently trotted-out ‘pearls of wisdom’ and shudder.

The most damaging bit of bad advice that I still see every single day is this: ‘Create your website/ebook/product according to your passion.’

The theory is simple: if you write about what you know and care deeply about, you can position yourself as an expert and reap the benefits accordingly.

That single piece of bad advice kills so many Internet marketing careers before they’ve even begun.

The sad fact is that most of us are hard-pressed to find a subject that we feel that passionate about. And even if we can find one, we quickly discover that it has already been done to death by other enthusiasts.

And those who do struggle to create their ebook or website on the topic that most fascinates them more often than not find that there is no market for a book on ‘Collecting 19th-century thimbles.’

The result is that most people who accept and try to follow that advice either end up doing nothing, or put massive amounts of their valuable time and energy into creating something that nobody is interested in except themselves.

Either way they sadly leave the Internet marketing arena believing that it is they who have failed.

The truth is that for every single person who is making money from their passion, there are a thousand – or even ten thousand – who never will. Sorry to disillusion you.

The more modern approach – and the one that is proving to be hugely successful for those who embrace it – is to find a hungry market first and then create a product to feed it – regardless of whether it is a subject you know anything about.

There are many ways that you can do this, but the easiest, and for me, the most profitable, is through private label ebooks and the membership sites that supply them.

These membership sites research hot niche markets – usually two or three each month – and pay ghost writers to create ebooks to service them. In addition, many of the private label ebook membership sites also supply private label articles for you to populate your websites with.

Private label, in case you are unfamiliar with the term means that the ebook or article is supplied to you as a txt file, or a Word doc so that you can add to it, change it, rewrite parts of it, or do anything you like to make it your own product. You can even change the title and add your own name as the author.

Effectively you get an ebook that can be sold by you as your own work, (keeping all the profits) without having to spend weeks or months researching and writing.

And from any one membership site costing (generally) less that $30 a month, you will get at least two and sometimes as many as six great ebooks to start selling immediately.

That is the power of private label – someone else does all the work and you get to make all the money.

Success online, in 2006 at least, isn’t about following your passion. It is about finding markets that are desperately hungry and thirsty and providing websites and ebooks that satisfy that raging hunger and quench that aching thirst.

And more, to do that over and over again.

With private label ebooks it is easy to have a new product on sale. Once you have the know-how, turning a private label ebook from an anonymous text file into a unique professional ebook is the job of a few hours.

My ebook ‘Unlock the Secrets of Private Label eBooks’ takes a step-by-step approach to teach everything you need to know to start profiting from this gold mine. In addition, it details eleven different ways that you can use the private label ebook contents that even most ‘experts’ have never done!

So forget about following your passion to create your ebook or website. Find out what passions other people have and follow them. they will be your hungry markets.

The only passion you need to have is a burning desire to be successful in Internet marketing and the passionate belief that private label ebooks are your key to that door.

Make your own TV show

Comments Off

If you’re anything like me, you’ve spent many, many hours of your life watching television. From sit-coms and game shows to cartoons and reality TV, we’ve sat in front of the box for a large part of our life watching stories of one sort or another. What we mightn’t have known is that for every one show that gets on the air there were probably a hundred that didn’t make it. This might be hard to believe with shows like ‘The Joe Schmo Show” and “The Simple Life” out there but our world is a strange place with weird people, now isn’t it? However with the advent of the Internet and legal file-sharing you can now film your own TV show and put it up on the Web for everyone to see. If it’s any good, word will get around. That’s how the Internet works: Word of mouth.

You no longer have to make a pilot show and sit in front of a large group of executives praying that they will like your material. Television is heading for your computer, literally. You can already download some of your favorite corporation-backed shows on the Internet legally, for a small price. It is a commonly held belief that in the not-to-distant-future computers and televisions will become one, a flat digital screen replacing your monitor. Eventually all TV channels and individual shows will have websites where you can download and stream their programs. The interesting new phenomenon is that you can join in the fun too. There’s a low barrier to entering the Internet TV game. We have now been given the freedom to produce, and to share our stories with the rest of the box-watching world.

Check out http://www.welcometothescene.com/index.shtml and http://www.purepwnage.com/. These two sites are a couple of the multitudinous masses that are now being put up on the Web for people to watch and share. It can almost be thought of as an artist’s exhibition, where you and your TV-maniac friends finally get to show your shows to the rest of us. I get the feeling that the whole idea is based around the concept of freedom. We get the freedom to create, a medium where we can choose to show our creations, and the freedom to download a show and share it with our friends. Word-of-mouth spreads and all of a sudden your show’s got a huge underground cult following. What happens next in the story? You tell me.

As always people are going to try and make a dollar out of something cool and new on the human scene. If you look at the show on http://marcushateshisjob.com/ you will see a pretty funny TV program. It is sponsored by Sprite, a division of the Coca-Cola Company. There’s nothing really wrong with this (artists have to get their funding from somewhere) except that it could possibly result in nearly the same paradigm as the old TV company-controlled structure, if Sprite achieves power to dictate what content goes into the show. There’s a name that has been coined for this sort of behavior and in this case the product-placement, commercially-based Internet program fits into this category perfectly: Astroturf. The former shows are grass-roots programs, a sign of the individual freedom that can be obtained on the Internet. Astroturf makes itself out to look like grass-roots philosophy, yet like football, it is definitely a more painful place to get tackled.

The whole concept of file-sharing has a huge amount of nebulous clouds surrounding it, but in this case things are simple. You want people to watch your show. You haven’t downloaded someone else’s copyright material. You’re sharing your own creation. Get to it people, and get it to the people. I want to see what you can do. One can only take so many reruns of “Gilligan’s Island” and “Different Strokes”. ‘What you talkin’ bout Willis?’ is what they’ll be saying after watching your inspirational new television masterpiece. Hey, you might even start a whole new era. Remember, one day, a long time ago (and thank the Universe for it), no one even knew what a sit-com was!

National Football League Rules – New Rules for the National Football League in 2005

Comments Off

The National Football League emphasizes new rules every year in order for the league to get better and better each year. The new rules for this year emphasize the safety of the players more than any other priority. While there are some minor rule changes that will not be noticed, there are also some changes that could become very prevalent in some close match-ups this season.

The National Football league is attempting to protect its players by cutting down on unnecessary roughness on the sidelines and on the field. If a player is hit out of bounds or punched or kicked or anything of that nature, expect the flags to come out more often this season. Players can also no longer tackle by grabbing the collars of the opposing team and pulling down, or knock a kicker down if he is not in a defensive position (or initiate helmet-to-helmet contact with a kicker). Players also cannot commit a personal foul after the halftime expires, if they do, they are penalized 15 yards, and the opposing team may extend the period for one untimed down.

The National Football League will also be penalizing coaches and players for not knowing how many challenges or timeouts they have. If a team attempts to call a timeout or a challenge when they do not have any left they will be penalized 15 yards. This could certainly come into play this year, especially in a close game if a team attempts to call a timeout, and is penalized and than moved out of field goal range.
The new official rules from the National Football League for 2005 are listed-below.

1. “Players are prohibited from grabbing the inside collar of the back or side of the shoulder pads and immediately pulling down the runner. This rule does not apply to a quarterback in the pocket or a runner in the tackle box. Previously, there was no regulation about the “horse-collar” tackle. Penalty: loss of 15 yards.”

2. “An offensive player who is aligned in the tackle box at the snap and moves to a position outside the box cannot initiate contact on the side and below the waist of an opponent if the player is moving back toward the direction of his own end line. If the near shoulder of the blocker contacts the front of his opponent’s body, the “peel back” block is legal. Previously, a player aligned in the tackle box could hit an opponent on the side and below the waist from any direction. Penalty: loss of 15 yards.”

3. “There shall be no unnecessary roughness, including unnecessarily running, diving into, cutting, or throwing the body against or on a player who is out of the play before or after the ball is dead. Previously, the policy on unnecessary roughness was less specific.”

4. “A kicker/punter standing still or fading backwards after the ball has been kicked is out of the play and must not be unnecessarily contacted by the receiving team until he assumes a distinctly defensive position. An opponent may not unnecessarily initiate helmet-to-helmet contact to the kicker/punter at anytime during the kick or during the return. Previously, there was no regulation about contact with a kicker/punter after he kicked the ball, nor was there any regulation about helmet-to-helmet contact with the kicker.”

5. “If, during a scrimmage kick, a player is called for illegal touching inside the receiver’s 5-yard line, the receiving team may elect to take a touchback. Previously, the receiving team could choose to take the ball at the spot of the foul or elect for the kicking team to lose five yards and re-kick.”

6. “If, at the end of a half, the defense commits a dead-ball personal foul, the offense may choose to extend the period for one untimed down and move 15 yards forward. Previously, a dead ball foul was unenforceable after time had expired.”

7. “The “pocket area” is now defined as spanning the normal tackle position on each side of the center and extends backwards to the offense’s own end line. Previously, there were two defined pocket areas. The first spanned from tackle to tackle and was considered only for intentional grounding. The second spanned from tight end to tight end and was considered for illegal contact.”

8. “If, for any reason, the play clock is stopped with fewer than 10 seconds remaining, it is re-set to 10 seconds. Previously, if the play clock stopped prior to the snap, it was automatically re-set to 25 seconds.”

9. “For the following fouls called during a kick play, the offended team will have the option of accepting the penalty at the previous spot and replaying the down or adding the penalty yardage (five yards) onto the end of the play: ineligible player down field; member of the punting team voluntarily out of bounds; illegal formation; illegal motion; player not reporting change in eligibility; offensive offside; illegal shift. Previously, the offended team could decline the penalty or accept a re-kick and a loss of five yards.”

10 “An attempt to call an excess or illegal time-out to “freeze” a kicker prior to a field goal attempt or a PAT will be considered unsportsmanlike conduct. Previously, officials were instructed to ignore the attempt and assess no penalty. Penalty: loss of 15 yards.”

11. “A team that is out of timeouts or has used all of its available challenges may not attempt to initiate an additional challenge. Penalty: loss of 15 yards. Previously, there was no penalty for attempting to initiate an excess challenge.”

12 ” A player or an official is out of bounds when he touches anything other than a player, an official or a pylon on or outside a boundary line. Previously, officials outside a boundary were considered out of bounds. This change pertains mostly to cases where players running along the sideline contact officials standing on the boundary line.”

Fantasy Football: Quarterbacks

Comments Off

I have always felt that quarterbacks were undervalued in fantasy football. In most scoring formats, they put up more points than any other position (yes, including the vaunted running backs). However, most people tend to dismiss quarterbacks as not worthy of a high pick because they all put up around the same amount of points. I feel that the point differences between a top and mid-level quarterback and a top and mid-level running back are about the same.

In a standard Yahoo fantasy league, I’m going to look at the difference in fantasy points between the top ranked QB and RB and the 10th ranked QB and RB. The top ranked QB was Peyton Manning, with 356 points, and 10th was Aaron Brooks with 187 points, a 169 point gap. The top ranked RB was Shaun Alexander, with 194 points, and the 10th ranked RB was Willis McGahee with only 127 points. The point spread here is only 67 points. Because leagues usually have 2 runners and only 1 quarterback, ill compare Alexander to the 20th ranked runner, Thomas Jones, who had 97 points. Between first and 20th, there is a 97 point gap.

In addition to having a far lower point spread, the running backs amass far fewer total points. The top RB, Shaun Alexander, only has 7 more points than the 10th QB, Aaron Brooks. The only reason running backs are ranked so much higher than quarterbacks is because, for no real reason, people tend to snap up running backs early. If you don’t pick a back early, you will be stuck with a Warrick Dunn or a Brian Westbrook, who, while still good, are much worse than the top backs.

Most every QB had a career season last year, which can be attributed to the new pass interference rules. So bear in mind that next year, after defensive backs and referees adjust to the new rules, QB numbers overall may go down.

The 2005 season QB rankings:

1. Peyton Manning: He threw for 4500 yards and 49 touchdowns last year, so he should be your top overall pick, not just the top QB. I don’t think he will get 49 touchdowns again, as his previous career high was 29. But he should still get over 40 touchdowns with similar yardage numbers.

2. Daunte Culpepper: This guy should be a first-rounder. His season garnered almost no media attention, but he had one of the best seasons ever for a quarterback, setting an all-time record for combined yardage. He had 41 combined touchdowns and threw/ran for 5100 yards. In fact, in leagues that emphasize yardage, he could be more valuable than Peyton Manning. Similarly to Peyton Manning, his record-setting season came out of nowhere; his previous career highs were 4400 combined yards and 33 touchdowns. I personally believe that he will do just fine without Randy Moss (I think that Daunte benefited Moss’s numbers more than Moss helped his). Nate Burleson is a fine #1 receiver, and expect something around 35 touchdowns and 4600 combined yards out of him.

3. Donovan McNabb: T.O. and Westbrook have ended their holdouts, and McNabb looks poised to put up similar numbers to last season. Expect over 3500 yards and 30 touchdowns.

4. Trent Green: He tends to get overlooked, but he has been more than solid for several years despite having no wide receivers at all. If Eddie Kennison can repeat last year, and if Marc Boerigter, a touchdown machine, can play well coming off an injury, he will be solid. Samie Parker could also play a big role in the Chiefs offense. I’m going to say he gets 4000 yards and 25 touchdowns.

5. Jake Delhomme: He is a very good quarterback, and with the return of Steve Smith, Stephen Davis, Deshaun Foster, and the rest of the team from injury, he should have an opportunity to improve his numbers from last year. The emergence of Keary Colbert last year was a pleasant surprise, and his continued development will take attention away from Steve Smith and open up the passing game. Expect 28+ touchdowns and 3600 yards out of him.

6. Drew Brees : His season did literally come out of nowhere, but he had 3150 yards and 29 touchdowns, and with Reche Caldwell and Keenan McCardell back from injury, he might even do better. Having Antonio Gates back from his holdout also helps his value. He should get 30 touchdowns and 3300 yards.

7. Tom Brady: Tom Brady is a solid starter, usually notching around 25 touchdowns and 3700 yards every year. The Patriots lost David Patten this offseason, but with the way they spread the ball around he shouldn’t be a factor. They regain Ben Watson, and they signed a boatload of receivers, including Tim Dwight and David Terrell. Deion Branch and David Givens are a very underrated top 2, and expect around 3800 yards and 25 touchdowns from Brady.

8. Marc Bulger: He has an amazingly talented group of wide receivers, headlined by Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt. He is also in an offensive system that is very pass-happy. I hear people saying his breakout year is going to come this year, but I don’t believe it. I say 4000 yards and 20 touchdowns.

9. Brett Favre: Not many people would but Favre this low, but the loss of both the starting guards(Wahle and Rivera) from last year’s o-line is troubling. The offensive success of this team stemmed in no small part from its stellar o-line, and Brett Favre will undoubtedly not get as much time in the pocket as he did last year. But its hard to bet against Favre, and I’m going to say he notches 3000 yards and around 22 touchdowns.

10. Jake Plummer : He throws way too many interceptions for people’s liking, but he does get the numbers. You may not want to get him in a league that heavily penalizes interceptions, but his last year stats of 4100 yards and 27 touchdowns are appealing in all other leagues. Last year was by far a career year for him, so I’m going to say he gets 3000 yards and 20 touchdowns.
