Broadband as Important as Water and Electricity

Comments Off

A whopping 73 percent of internet users in the UK consider high-speed broadband to be as important as water or electricity. Although, it would have not been a surprise if some people said that for them broadband was now an essential utility, the percentage of people holding this view is certainly quite impressive.

However, Chris Stening, Managing Director of broadband provider Easynet Connect, which mainly caters to business users, says that there is nothing new about this trend. He says that business users in the country have held such a belief for a long time, and the latest survey only shows that the home users are catching up.

He pointed out that in May last year Easynet Connect found 71 percent of Small and Medium Enterprises agreeing that running their business for more than even a day without the internet would be impossible. Businesses and individual users are both relying on latest applications that the internet is facilitating, thus it is only on expected lines that so many users rate broadband so high in terms of utility.

Stening believes that the reliance on the internet will keep increasing for a long time. We already perform a significant number of our activities online now, and many of these activities like emails and online banking are critical for most of us.
