Frustrating Poker Days

Comments Off

Some days are better than others. This is especially true in the world of poker. To make a long story short, I was enrolled in an online sit n go tournament and was playing decent poker up until the 3 players. Don’t get me wrong, I was hitting great cards and getting near unbeatable hands. But during this stretch, no matter how good I was playing, somebody would somehow beat me on the river, every single time. It got so frustrating I started to lose my discipline and shortly after I was short stacked and had to make my desperation move. I went all in after hitting a set on the flop, scaring out everybody except for one. He couldnt have had much other than a good overpair so I knew I had him beat. The river was an ace and he showed pocket aces, beating my set of kings. I wanted to keep playing to win my money back, but instead I went home defeated and frustrated.

I’ve learned, if this happens a few times in one day of playing poker, do not return for a few days. I’m not sure if it’s superstition, or perhaps just my innate desire not to throw money away, but this seems to be the only answer.
