Naveen Jain and InteliusAfter working in Microsoft, Naveen Jain started working in InfoSpace in March 1996 and became its CEO until 2002. From 1995 until 2000, he was on all sorts of business publications and was always compared to, ironically, his idol Bill Gates. He founded InfoSpace in March 1996 and at its prime, the provider of metasearch and private-label Internet search services was worth $31 billion. He left the company in 2002 however and with his entrepreneurial genius still hard at work in conceptualizing innovative ideas, formed a new one.He started Intelius in 2003. The Bellevue, Washington-based information commerce company sells background information on people. The company has grown fast and has claimed that more than 4 million people have purchased products from them. Its revenue had grown from $18.1 million to $88.5 million in just a span of three years. His vision for the company was to make a new internet firm that would influence modern technology to supply people accurate information. The company originally started as an online source of providing data about individuals such as property holdings, court records, address information etc.As the company grew, Naveen Jain also expanded the services it offered – it delved into “neighborhood” reviews for screening possible sex offenders and started to provide employee background checking. He also started giving out services related to identity theft prevention. The majority of the company’s earnings now come from providing background reports. In 2006, the company had revenues totaling $55,000,000.In the later parts of 2006, Intelius’ Chief Financial Officer, Paul Cook, stated that the company was contemplating an Initial Public Offering. On January 10, 2008, the company filed a registration statement for an initial public offering to boost to $143.75 million. At present, Naveen Jain focuses most of his time in Intelius to giving justice to his label as the wizard of the information industry.
