Laxton is a small rural village in the midlands, dating from 1066 and the Norman Conquest.

Nowadays visitors can visit the the site of the old castle at the northern edge of Laxton, and see Nottinghamshires best preserved motte and bailey castle.

One can also view the beautiful, and lovely, church that dates back from early 12th century and is still regularly used to this day.

Nevertheless, what makes the village of Laxton truly special is its continuation of the open field farming system.

Laxton is the last open farming system in England and you can walk the village on your own or take a tour with a local, which we can organise for you.
