With the new rates being proposed by the Vodafone Passport summer promotion offer, 2.5 million Vodafone subscribers have cause to rejoice. Standard roaming tariffs for the benefit of customers ensure that holidaying customers do not have to bother about exorbitant roaming charges any more.

With the new Passport in place, Vodafone customers will have to pay a daily charge of just £4.99 to enjoy up to 25 MB of data use on their cell phones when they are away holidaying, which amounts to only 20p per MB. For all usage going beyond 25MB, every 25MB block is charged £4.99.

One can perform many online tasks on a mobile phone with 25MB of data use, claims Vodafone. 250 web pages can be browsed, 25 emails can be read and responded to, a particular area can be located using Google Maps, eight articles can be read on the BBC news website, one’s status can be changed on Facebook, and three short video clips can be watched on You Tube.

For usage under 1MB, Vodafone has introduced a significantly reduced pricing model. According to this scheme, if you check your mailbox once and use less than 1MB, you can pay charges at a per kb rate. Reading and responding to a brief email uses up approximately 100 KB.

Vodafone also has plans in place for overseas mobile broadband access on laptops. Up to 50MB of data usage on a laptop will cost £9.99 in Europe and £29.99 in countries outside the European continent. Without doubt, this is the most consumer-friendly mobile broadband overseas charge. However, one should note that Vodafone’s roaming charges would be applicable to UK time. The cycle is from midnight to midnight UK time for charge on a certain amount of data use on a single day.
